History

Cygnia Maintenance Limited began life in 1995 when it was formed as Active Sign Maintenance Ltd. The company's Managing Director Phil Sharman had specialised in the field of signage maintenance since the mid 80's and joined the Active Group with a brief to create a service company capable of delivering maintenance services on a national scale.

Success came early for the newly formed ASML and the company's first major success was in late 1995 when TSB signed a 3 year comprehensive maintenance contract, and the creation of the UK's largest ever sign maintenance specialist had begun in earnest.

By late 1996 the company had grown almost exponentially and was able to directly employ half a dozen crews to cover the country. It is a source of great pride to the company that a large number of these original employees are still with the company today.

It was approaching the time of the millennium when the entrepreneurial foresight of the company was quick to spot the onset of the "FM revolution" and its consequent impact on the retail market place. A shift towards incisive, dedicated contract management saw service level agreements and Key Performance indicators become the benchmarks of performance and as a result the company successfully re-invented itself to ensure excellence in service delivery for this new era.

Each year of trading has seen improvements in quality service provision, improved kpi measurement and high level quality control, enabling the company to satisfy the newly developed and highly demanding requirements of the industry. Along the way, ISO9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS18001, Safecontractor, Eurosafe, CHAS and a host of other accreditations have been achieved and more are planned for the future.

ASML was acquired by Blaze Signs Holdings in September 2007, a move that has allowed for additional investment into the company and its employees so that it may continue to improve and satisfy both its current and prospective client base.

Today we employ over 100 staff and have 27 strategically located depots across the UK and Eire and the re-launch as CYGNIA takes the company into yet another phase of impressive growth and development. The future for Cygnia promises to be very exciting indeed.
